QQQS Workshop at Strathclyde University

Glasgow, 26–28 August 2026
Following the main meeting of the EPSRC Programme Grant on Quantum Advantage in Quantitative Quantum Simulation in Oxford at the beginning of the year, this midway workshop aims to foster varied discussion and knowledge exchange among the QQQS research community. This event will bring together leading experimentalists and theorists at different stages of their careers to discuss both conceptual and applied aspects of quantum simulation.

Format

The workshop will run from 11am on the 26th of August to 12 noon on Friday the 28th of August.

This workshop will feature a light schedule in a highly interactive atmosphere, encouraging open cross-disciplinary dialogue and the exchange of ideas around different topics. The majority of the workshop will be organised around 20-minute talks, mostly presented by junior researchers, followed by extended time for informal interaction. To maximize the opportunities for discussion, research posters will be displayed throughout the workshop.

The workshop will additionally feature an ECR day running from the afternoon of Tuesday the 25th of August to the morning of the Wednesday, before the start on the main meeting. It will be targeted at PhD students and postdocs at early stages in their careers focusing on diverse career pathways.

Fees include food and drink for lunches and for morning and afternoon breaks over the three days of the workshop.

Venue

The workshop will be hosted at The Social Hub in Glasgow. The workshop will be held on the first floor rooms with a nearby breakout space with refreshments to fuel the discussions! The lunches for the Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will be provided in the cafe downstairs. The venue has hotel rooms that can be booked on an individual basis with discount code EVENTS25.
